Master Plan for English Learners
Plummer Elementary currently offers two programs to support English Learners
The Mainstream Instructional program is taught in English for English proficient students and English learners with reasonable fluency (ELD 4-5). English is used as the only language of instruction. English learners receive support as needed in English, including the use of special strategies for English learners. English Learners receive 45-60 minutes of English Language Development daily focusing on academic English.
The Structured English Immersion program is taught in English for students beginning to learn English (ELD1-3). Students learn all academic subjects in English, with help in their primary language only if needed. Teachers use special strategies to teach academic subjects to English Learners. Students receive at least 60 minutes of English Language Development instruction daily.
Transitional Bilingual Education, Maintenance Bilingual Education, and the Dual Language Two-Way Immersion Program are other optional Instructional Programs.
